With the current trend of women seeking and obtaining breast surgery, an alarming fact has arisen.   It seems that doctors are insisting that women whom had undergone breast surgery and had implants fitted still undergo a mammogram.  Despite the fact that the implant could rupture whilst undergoing this procedure doctors are insistent that the process is definitely necessary.

If you are currently thinking about breast surgery, one should definitely be alert to the fact that implants can interfere with the process of finding cancerous growths during a mammogram.  The reason behind this is that the implant will be detected and be shown as a white mass; this can hide tumours that are in the near vicinity.   This is not a singular problem as the implants can cause other problems as well.  Because of the nature of the implant other results can be found to be unreliable and further tests are required.

One must ask oneself why cosmetic surgery is desired.  We live in a world where self worth seems to be judged on beauty and how one feels about their body.  If the options for enhancement were not there people would have no choice but accept their size and shape.

The fact that implants, and breast surgery can mean that a potentially life threatening illness could go undetected must give serious pause for thought.  It is not just a simple issue and many women feel that their quality of life needs to change, indeed many have stated so.
